Tips and Advice
If you have decided to learn to drive it is most important that you choose an instructor who is highly skilled and experienced. An expert instructor will help you in the development of your own skills and assist in bringing you to a high standard of competence. You will be pleasantly surprised by the improvement in your confidence.
When choosing an instructor, it's really important that you ask around, (preferably from a mature person), and consider opting for the name you hear mentioned most often. Check too that they are fully qualified. (They must display their Instructors Certificate).
Naturally, you may be attracted by "special offers" advertised, and of course no one wants to pay more than necessary. Be careful. All lessons are not the same. Although 10 lessons at £20 cost the same as 8 at £25, it is a fact that eight good lessons from an expert will be more beneficial than ten poor ones. Choose wisely.
Book your lessons a few weeks in advance, even before your seventeenth birthday. We may have a waiting list.
You can apply for a provisional license 2 months before your 17th birthday. You can obtain the license application form from Lecale House in Downpatrick. When you apply you must submit 2 colour photographs taken in the last two months and confirmation of your identity. It's best to send your passport as well but if you can't do this you will have to have your photos authenticated by one of the following:- Established Civil Servant
- Doctor
- Bank Official

- JP
